This week in AP Lit was a work week. This week I got a taste of leading a group in writing a paper in the AP Lit style. Using time wisely is something that has come naturally this year, due to the more relaxed nature of the class. It has been easy to independently decide how much work needs to be done in the time period I am given. The struggle this week has been staying on task and making sure I set myself up to not have any days where I am stressed out before or after this class.
Working with a partner has taught me that I prefer to be a leader and not a follower. I think in the future I should definitely be more trusting in my partners because David has proven that he is just as capable as I am at writing an essay. The problem is that in the past I have been burned by people in the group not pulling their weight and I need to learn not to apply that to every situation.
Peer editing is something I've done in every english class that I have ever been in, but the way we are looking at it this year seems to be much easier than in the past. I had no struggle applying the phrases we used on the board like "I like when you say___ and want to know more about___." A guide like this was also helpful in interpreting the people editing my paper were trying to point out.
Creative writing is my favorite part of any day. I do not consider myself much of a writer, but I love the challenge of just pulling ideas out of my head and putting them somewhere. I consider myself more left brain and my friends more right brain, but when it comes to creative writing ideas tend to flow to me pretty easily.
