This week in AP Lit we started our research project where we answer a question based on two pieces of literary fiction. Starting this project was good because it gives the reading a purpose. Not only does this project point my reading in a direction, it also is a guiding question that I chose which makes the project much more interesting. I have learned that when I get to pick the subject, I am much more inspired to get work done. I am reading one book that I am relatively familiar with and another book I know very little about. This presentation is also going to be a slideshow without any words on it. This means that I am going to have to be very familar with the subject in order to have a coherent presentation.
We also took a practice AP test. Taking that test allowed for a focus on the part of the AP test that was not an essay. I learned that it is important to interpret the passages in the same way that the AP test interprets them. The best way to do that is to be able to back up any ideas you have about a piece with evidence within the piece. In order to score well on the AP test it is best to disreguard some of the pretense you have, try and look at a written piece and judge it solely based on what is written.
